Generation 5: Unova

156 Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 and White 2 (2010).

Black and White made the boldest break in the series. Their regional Pokédex contained only new species until the story was finished, so no Pikachu, no Zubat and no Magikarp for the entire main campaign. With 156 new Pokémon it is the largest generation, and Black 2 and White 2 were the first direct numbered sequels.

Unova is based on New York City rather than a region of Japan. It introduced the Tao trio Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem, the Swords of Justice, and Mythicals including Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect. Its starters are Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott.
