Generation 6: Kalos

X and Y were the first fully 3D main-series games, released worldwide on the same day on the Nintendo 3DS. They introduced the Fairy type, the first new type since Johto, and rebalanced Dragon-type dominance by retyping older Pokémon such as Clefairy, Gardevoir and Marill. Mega Evolution debuted here as a temporary in-battle transformation.

Kalos, modelled on France, added only 72 species, the fewest of any generation. Its Legendaries are Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde, with Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion as Mythicals. The starters are Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie.
